Hackney House Extension Designer: Platform 5
Location: Hackney, London, UK
Refurbishment was conceived of as a landscape of interventions and new components. The cellular ground floor was opened up and extended to the rear to allow the spaces to flow into each other and to the garden whilst the existing layout to the first floor was largely retained. Each room maintains an individual character giving a varied experience as you move through the house. www.bustler.net Posted: 12/15/2009 digg | del.icio.us | stumble | email this

The House of Sweden Designer: Wingardh Architects
Location: Washington, DC
The House of Sweden is a hidden gem in Georgetown, Washington DC which appears to be preparing to sail the great Potomac. Home to the Swedish Embassy offices for Swedish-American liaisons, upscale corporate apartments and offices, the structure is regal and stable - thrusting its sleek and organic geometry out towards the Georgetown Harbour. It is no surprise the architects chose a location out of the typical hustle and bustle of the capital’s city-centre. The wholesome riverfront environment speaks to the architectures unassuming grace. archinect.com Posted: 12/15/2009 digg | del.icio.us | stumble | email this
