It is like nothing ever happened. What do you do with a remnant space only 2.4 meters (7 feet 10 inches) wide? Search for ultimate living... Four wooden floors between two existing walls, hanging in a steel skeleton, organize this house: downstairs for work, dining on 1st, relaxing on 2nd, sleeping on 3rd, and on the roof, go and enjoy the view. The border to the outside is only glass. Transparency not only a necessity, but also a trump card. archinect.com Posted: 01/01/2009 digg | del.icio.us | stumble | email this

LILYPAD, A Floating Ecopolis for Ecological Refugees Designer: Vincent Callebaut

It is common knowledge that the planet is warming, ice caps are melting, and water levels are rising. The international scientific community predicts that a temperature elevation of 1 degree C will lead to a water rise of 1 meter, resulting in massive land loss and the displacement of millions of people world wide. Vincent Callebaut, a visionary Belgian architect, is responding to this inevitability with his proposal LILYPAD, A Floating Ecopolis for Ecological Refugees. archinect.com Posted: 12/31/2008 digg | del.icio.us | stumble | email this
